Quilombismo and Afrocentricity: the black-religious presence in the loving lyric of Oswaldo Montenegro

Resumo: This article takes the lyric of the songwriter Oswaldo Montenegro as an instrument of approach. What is wanted is to identify the categories Quilombismo and Afrocentricity, which take the Afro-Brazilian culture as a worldview, treated by the black thinker Abdias Nascimento, in the verses of the songs. Tracking similarities and differences between Montenegro's poetic text and these concepts, through the presence of Afro-religious symbology, is the focus of this study. To fulfill it, the black-diasporic phenomenological method is used, which helps in the analysis of mythopoetic images of the deities of the pantheon of African origin. The conclusion reached by this study is: although the carioca songwriter projects a positive representation of the community, through songs that deal with the black-religious imaginary, this intention is partially achieved when placed in perspective compared with the categories afrocentricity and Quilombismo. An approximation of Afrocentricity can be noticed by the thematization of the deities of the Dark Continent. On the other hand, there is a distancing from quilombism, due to the lack of positive representations of the black community and its feminine, and an update of the myth of racial democracy operationalized by the lyrical self.

Lo que se quiere es identificar las categorías Quilombismo y Afrocentrismo, que toman como cosmovisión la cultura afrobrasileña, tratada por el pensador negro Abdias Nascimento, en los versos de las canciones. El objetivo de este estudio es rastrear similitudes y diferencias entre el texto poético de Montenegro y estos conceptos, a través de la presencia de la simbología afrorreligiosa. Para cumplirlo se utiliza el método fenomenológico negrodiaspórico, que ayuda en el análisis de imágenes mitopoéticas de las deidades del panteón de origen africano. La conclusión a la que llega este estudio es: si bien el cantautor carioca proyecta una representación positiva de la comunidad, a través de canciones que abordan el imaginario negro-religioso, esta intención se logra parcialmente cuando se pone en perspectiva frente a las categorías afrocentrismo y quilombismo. Se puede notar una aproximación al afrocentrismo mediante la tematización de las deidades del Continente Oscuro. Por otro lado, hay un alejamiento del quilombismo, por la falta de representaciones positivas de la comunidad negra y su femenino, y una actualización del mito de la democracia racial operativizado por el yo lírico.Este artigo toma como instrumento de abordagem a lírica do cancionista Oswaldo Montenegro. O que se quer é identificar as categorias quilombismo e afrocentricidade, que tomam a cultura afro-brasileira como visão de mundo, tratadas pelo pensador negro Abdias Nascimento, nos versos das canções. Rastrear aproximações e distanciamentos do texto poético de Montenegro com esses conceitos, pela presença da simbologia afroreligiosa, é objeto de atenção deste estudo. Para cumpri-lo, toma-se o método fenomenológico preto-diaspórico, que auxilia nas análises das imagens mitopoéticas das divindades do panteão de matriz africana. A conclusão a que este estudo chega é: muito embora o cancionista carioca projete uma representação positiva da comunidade, por meio das canções que versam sobre o imaginário negro-religioso, esse intento é alcançado de modo parcial quando colocado em perspectiva comparada com as categorias afrocentricidade e quilombismo. Nota-se uma aproximação da afrocentricidade pela tematização das deidades do Continente Negro.
