A Study on the Quilombos of Vila do Príncipe, Minas Gerais, 18th And 19th Centuries

Resumo: Based on Arendt and Foucault's conceptualization of political modernity, we narrate, based on documents from the Senate of the Chamber of Vila do Príncipe (Serro/MG), the foundation and ruin of some political experiences of quilombos in the region of the old mines of Serro do Frio, discovered in 1702. The methodology focuses on the research of documents in public archives, on a bibliographic review with the help of historians of Colonial Brazil, especially concerned with the new colonial political lexicon, and on the perception of political history as an object permeated by multiple concepts, notions and interpretations about civil disobedience, namely those present in the references.
