The criminalization of popular movements and violent repression on manifestations: the case of the teachers massacre in Curitiba on April 29, 2015

This article studies the process of struggle of popular movements taking as an example the case of the massacre of teachers in 2015 in Curitiba/PR. Aiming to: A) Bring the narratives of the massacre that took place in Curitiba against teachers and a brief contextualization of the issues involved; B) Briefly historicize popular movements in Brazil; C) Differentiate social and popular movements; D) Understand the phenomenon of criminalization of popular movements and the repression of demonstrations. E) Use the exemplified struggle as a protagonist in the theoretical-practical construction of the work and collaborate with the memory of the facts. The methodology will approach the deductive method and the monographic procedure method. The research technique will be documentary and bibliographic. It was concluded that before and after the violent repression, different forms of discrediting were used by the state against the movement, resulting in multiple forms of violence.
