Resumo: The Humanization Project of Santa Tereza, despite not having prevailed, reveals many issues pertaining to the gentrification of the central regions of Salvador. The private equity, leveraged by State and masked by the media, overlaps with urban laws and defines the forms of production of urban space, thanks to the legitimacy arising from a discourse of decadence, which classifies the central spaces and their habitants as chaotic. It amounts to this, the need to intervene urgently in decaying neighborhoods, without the possibility of participation of the affected population.

O capital privado, potencializado pelo Estado e mascarado pela mídia, sobrepõe-se às leis urbanísticas e define as formas de produção do espaço urbano, graças à legitimidade advinda de um discurso da decadência, que classifica os espaços centrais e seus habitantes como caóticos.
