Journal Lucía: an irreverent mix

Resumo: In 2021, an irreverent mix of visual culture and translation was concocted by a new scholarly publication launched in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic: the Revista Lucía. The journal is expected to come out annually and was conceived and co-edited by Fernanda Grigolin, PhD in Visual Arts from Unicamp, and Daniella Avelaneda Origuela, PhD in Translation Studies from USP. Lucía comes to fill the gap concerning authors from Latin American countries and the global south in feminist journals - and it also features contributions by transnational collectives. It is also interesting to note the non-institutionalization of the journal, and its flexible proposal of being independent both from academia and the publishing market. This review focuses on the first issue of the Revista Lucía: the debut edition provides the opportunity of reflecting on the editing processes, the topics addressed in articles, essays, dossiers, and on the discussions that ensue, in addition to the geographical locations and the disciplinary background of the authors, all of which exhibit diverse epistemological affiliations.

La revista se publica anualmente y fue creada y coeditada por Fernanda Grigolin, doctora en Artes Visuales en Unicamp, y Daniella Avelaneda Origuela, doctora en Estudios de Traducción en USP. Lucía se propone a llenar, aparentemente, un vacío en cuanto a autoras de países latinoamericanos y del Sur Global en las revistas feministas y, además, cuenta con contribuciones de colectivos de autoras de múltiples nacionalidades. También es interesante destacar la no institucionalización de la revista desde su nacimiento, lo que le da un carácter cambiante e independiente tanto de la academia como del mercado editorial. Esta reseña se centra en el primer número de Lucía: el debut de esta revista nos da la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre sus procesos de edición, las temáticas de sus artículos, ensayos, dossiers y debates producidos, así como sobre sus localizaciones geográficas y las procedencias disciplinares de sus autores, con sus diversas filiaciones epistemológicas.Em 2021, a irreverente mescla de cultura visual com tradução ganhou foco com uma nova publicação acadêmica gestada em meio à pandemia do coronavírus: a revista Lucía. A publicação tem periodicidade anual e foi criada e coeditada pela dupla composta por Fernanda Grigolin, doutora em Artes Visuais pela Unicamp, e Daniella Avelaneda Origuela, doutora em Estudos da Tradução pela USP. Lucía vem preencher, a que tudo indica, uma lacuna quanto a autores de países latino-americanos e do sul global em revistas feministas — trazendo também colaborações de autoria de coletivos de nacionalidades múltiplas. É interessante notar também a não institucionalização da revista, já desde seu nascimento, com seu caráter mutável e independente — tanto da academia, como do mercado editorial.
