Resumo: It is through the experience with the sacred that individuals connect with the most primordial and indescribable feelings, finding meaning and place in the world. In this scenario, surface design, equally relevant as an object of communication and transposition of culture and value, joins religious language to generate new ways of knowing Christian history. By relating these areas, this research aims to develop prints for a set of dishes, which represent the irrational feelings of the sacred through the book The Sacred, by Rudolf Otto, using the Surfaces of a Place method. In this way, it was possible to elaborate the mysterium tremendum prints, which refer to the mysterious delivery for love; fascinans representing security and life; and amazing, which surpasses the limits of reason, through the disturbing mystery of death on the cross.
