With regard to the legislation applied to the profession of Tourism Guide, Law No. 8623/1993 is the initial instrument for its normative order and Ordinance No. 37/2021 the last instrument edited by the Ministry of Tourism (MTUR). Having said that, this article has as main objective to analyze the changes promoted by Ordinance No. 37/2021 in relation to the normative instruments edited since 1993. From the results obtained with the analysis and comparison, it is verified the Ordinance No. 37 brought some advances, considering as the most substantial of them the requirements for registration as a tour guide. Despite the changes implemented, issues such as the ordering of the offer of courses, disciplinary infractions and supervision of professional performance still need to be better outlined in the scope of the normative contours.
