Influence of uncertainties in rainfall regime in rainwater harvesting in three cities of Goiás - Brazil

Resumo: | Rainwater Harvesting Systems (RWHS) can generate a reduction in the consumption of traditional sources and economic benefit for its users. However, characteristics of buildings, economic aspects and rainfall influence this technique performance and must be evaluated prior to their implementation. Uncertainties must also be considered, especially in relation to rainfall, given the current scenario of climate change. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of uncertainties in rainfall on the performance of RWHS in cities of the state of Goiás - Brazil. For this, technical and economic performance indicators were calculated for 16 systems configurations and 1.000 scenarios of uncertainty in rainfall and deep uncertainties in social and economic aspects for three cities. The city with the highest rainfall volume and the shortest dry periods had the best performance in the RWHS. When evaluating the climatic and deep uncertainties, it was verified that for the range of variation considered, the deep uncertainties are more relevant for the systems. In any case, even for the Midwest region, which does not have a favorable rainfall regime, the RWHS are a robust technique that can help in local water security. |

Sin embargo, las características de las edificaciones, los aspectos económicos y el régimen pluviométrico influyen en el desempeño de esta técnica y deben ser evaluados antes de su implementación. También se deben considerar las incertidumbres, especialmente en la precipitación, dado el cambio climático. Así, el objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la influencia de las incertidumbres en la precipitación en el desempeño de SCAL en ciudades del estado de Goiás - Brasil. Para ello, se calcularon indicadores de desempeño técnico y económico para 16 configuraciones de despliegue y 1.000 escenarios de incertidumbre en precipitación y profundas en aspectos sociales y económicos en tres ciudades. La ciudad con el mayor volumen de precipitación y los períodos secos más cortos tuvo el mejor desempeño en el SCAL. Al evaluar las incertidumbres, se verificó que para el rango de variación, las incertidumbres profundas son más relevantes. En cualquier caso, incluso para la región del Medio Oeste, que no tiene un régimen de lluvias favorable, los SCAL son una técnica robusta que puede ayudar en la seguridad hídrica local.Os Sistemas de Aproveitamento de Água Pluvial (SAAP) podem promover redução no consumo de fontes tradicionais e benefício econômico para seus usuários. Todavia, características das edificações, aspectos econômicos e o regime pluviométrico influenciam no desempenho dessa técnica e devem ser avaliados previamente à implantação dos sistemas. Deve-se considerar também as incertezas, especialmente em relação à precipitação, diante do atual cenário de alterações climáticas. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência das incertezas na precipitação no desempenho dos SAAP em cidades do estado de Goiás - Brasil. Para isso foram definidos e calculados indicadores de desempenho técnicos e econômicos para 16 configurações de SAAP considerando um conjunto de 1.000 cenários de incerteza na precipitação e de incertezas profundas nos aspectos sociais e econômicos para três cidades. A cidade com maior volume precipitado e períodos de estiagem com menores durações obteve o melhor desempenho dos SAAP. Ao avaliar as incertezas climáticas e profundas, verificou-se que para a faixa de variação considerada, as incertezas profundas são mais relevantes para os sistemas.
