Resumo: | Le Corbusier's proposals for Buenos Aires started with the esquisses made during his 1929 trip to South America, and developed between 1937 and 1938 as a Master Plan for Buenos Aires with the collaboration of the Argentine architects Jorge Ferrari Hardoy and Juan Kurchan. The paper emphasizes its parallelism and dialogue with the Organic Project of the Comisión de Estética Edilicia published in 1925, which provided some resources and the guidelines for a program. Among the first, the 1713 plan by José Bermúdez stands out. Le Corbusier uses it as a diagram that, establishing an organic response to the determining factors of the position and geographical characteristics, leads him to propose a metamorphosis of the city on the same footprints, but for 4 million inhabitants. The program of Mayor Carlos Noel when summoning the aforementioned commission in 1922, functions as a kind of blueprint that allows Le Corbusier to confront radically different architectonic solutions based on similar principals y identical locations. That is crucial insofar, these big buildings, that would allow a density of 3,200 inhabitants per hectare, are the plan to make of Buenos Aires a concentrated Big City. |
