The issue of architecture archives and the Action Plan of State Government of São Paulo (1959-1963) in the historiography of modern architecture

Resumo: This article aims to discuss the  current problem of collections and archives of architectural projects and documents for research and historiography of architecture and urbanism, presenting the extent of investigations on the State Government Action Plan in São Paulo (PAGE) and its contribution to the historiographical review of modern architecture in São Paulo. Conducted over the last two decades by several researchers, the research on the Action Plan was based on documentary research in public collections and archives, made possible by the previous work of preservation of historical documents performed by different institutions, contributing, in a decisive way, to the understanding of architectural modernism , focusing on verified  production  in São Paulo from the 1950s. In this sense, the historical documents, taken up by architectural historians, constitute elementary material for research, directly impacting the renovation of historiography.

Realizada durante las últimas dos décadas por varios investigadores, la investigación del Plan de Acción se basó en la investigación documental en fondos y archivos públicos, posibilitada por el trabajo previo de preservación de documentos históricos realizado por diferentes instituciones, contribuyendo, de manera decisiva, a la comprensión del modernismo arquitectónico , centrándose en la producción  producción  verificado en São Paulo desde la década de 1950. En este sentido, los documentos históricos, retomados por historiadores de la arquitectura, constituyen material elemental de investigación, impactando directamente la renovación de la historiografía.Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a problemática atual dos acervos e arquivos de projetos e documentos de arquitetura para a pesquisa e a historiografia da arquitetura e do urbanismo, apresentando a extensão das investigações sobre o Plano de Ação do Governo do Estado em São Paulo (PAGE) e a sua contribuição para a revisão historiográfica da arquitetura moderna em São Paulo. Conduzidas ao longo das últimas duas décadas por diversos pesquisadores, as pesquisas sobre o Plano de Ação se apoiaram na investigação documental em acervos e arquivos públicos, possibilitadas pelo trabalho prévio de preservação dos documentos históricos desempenhado por instituições diversas, contribuindo, de forma decisiva, para a compreensão do modernismo arquitetônico, concentrando-se na produção  verificada em São Paulo a partir da década de 1950.
