Resumo: | The field of transportation infrastructure renders a challenge to the researcher of architecture historiography, The nature of infrastructure design and the profile of the teams responsible for delivering, being distant from the traditional craftmanship of the modern canon as mapped by academia, renders a twofold responsibility: to map this professional niche, composed by multidisciplinary practices of consultive engineering, and that of analyzing the design’s ambitions through sources, whose language, albeit also originated from design thinking, are set far from the modern canon. Through the critical approach of Reyner Banham and the recent non-canonical historiography of architecture, we seek to mature a research tool that interprets technical documents, in the light of their ideological constraints. This article faces, through two case studies, the research experience at São Paulo’s municipal archives, as well as the state’s Highway Department, shares thought on their material conditions and its detailed listing, and points to the necessary actions for preservation and better interpretation of the archives, fundamental for understanding the history of infrastructure and its impact on the urban landscape. |

El campo de la infraestructura de transporte ofrece un desafío para el investigador de historiografía arquitectónica. La naturaleza de los proyectos de infraestructura y el formato de los equipos de proyecto que los desarrollaron, lejos del formato autoral del canon moderno, ofrecen una doble responsabilidad: mapear este nicho profesional, formado por empresas de ingeniería consultoras multidisciplinares, y analizar las ambiciones de diseño. a través de fuentes cuyo lenguaje, a pesar también del diseño, se aleja del vocabulario arquitectónico común. A través del enfoque crítico de Reyner Banham y la historiografía reciente no-canónica de la arquitectura, buscamos madurar una herramienta de investigación que interprete los documentos técnicos a la luz de sus limitaciones ideológicas. Este artículo analiza, a través de dos casos de estudio, la experiencia de investigación en las colecciones de la Ciudad de São Paulo y el Departamento de Carreteras del gobierno estatal, reflexiona sobre las condiciones físicas y catalogación de las colecciones, y señala las acciones necesarias para la preservación. y una mejor interpretación de las colecciones, fundamental para comprender la historia de la infraestructura y su impacto en el paisaje urbano.O campo da infraestrutura de transportes oferece um desafio ao pesquisador da historiografia da arquitetura. A natureza dos projetos de infraestrutura e o formato das equipes de projeto que os desenvolveram, distantes do formato autoral do cânone moderno, oferecem uma responsabilidade dupla: o de mapear esse nicho profissional, formado por empresas multidisciplinares de engenharia consultiva, e o de analisar as ambições de projeto através de fontes cuja linguagem, malgrado também projetual, se distancia do vocabulário arquitetônico comum. Através da abordagem crítica de Reyner Banham e da historiografia não-canônica da arquitetura, busca-se a maturação de uma ferramenta de pesquisa que interpreta documentos técnicos à luz de suas condicionantes ideológicas.
