Resumo: | Water conservation has become an essential component for water management, considering current scenario of uncertainties regarding water availability. This research aimed to perform a diagnosis of water consumption in basic health units in the Federal District and to present effective solutions to reduce water consumption by using water-saving equipment and non-potable water systems. The method made use of different water consumption auditing techniques, showed to be able to identify the profile of building consumption, characterize water end uses, generate indicators of daily building consumption and water end uses, and identify the potential for reducing water consumption. Results showed that 33% of the consumption of basic health units comes from sanitary basins, and also, that the potential to reduce water consumption can reach 51% with the use of water-saving equipment, 57% with a rainwater harvesting system, and 14% with a greywater reuse system. |
