Seja qual for o motivo, o turismo sempre mobiliza muita gente e deixa um rastro de benefícios que faz girar as rodas do desenvolvimento em todo o mundo. O turismo promove o desenvolvimento local ao ampliar as oportunidades econômicas e sociais dos cidadãos residentes da localidade visitada. A união da comunidade local com o trade turístico amplia a possibilidade de gerar riquezas e mais do que promover melhorias, o turismo pode espalhar seus benefícios por toda a região e aumentar ainda mais as vantagens para o próprio município. Muitos governos locais pretendem tornar suas respectivas sedes em atraentes destinos turísticos, mas para isso, é preciso haver uma infra-estrutura adequada para a prestação de serviços devida e ainda, dispor de mão-de-obra qualificada para atender bem ao visitante, ou seja, o atrativo em si não é suficiente para manter o turista na localidade. A finalidade deste trabalho é analisar a importância do inventário da oferta turística, que atua como uma ferramenta do planejamento turístico e na elaboração de políticas públicas que visem o desenvolvimento sustentável por meio do turismo. O delineamento da pesquisa foi de caráter qualitativo e os métodos de procedimentos empregados foram comparativo e estatístico para análise das hipóteses. A pesquisa foi exploratória e as técnicas de coleta de dados utilizadas foram: pesquisa secundária em arquivos de órgãos públicos e privados de interesse, em sites e em bibliografia especializada; a observação ocorreu durante a viagem com o Projeto Rondon, onde o Ministério do Turismo designou alunos de Turismo para realizarem uma inventariação em Tefé e durante a pesquisa de campo, foram aplicados formulários a empresários do trade turístico da cidade, bem como a funcionários da Prefeitura no período de 04 a 20 de fevereiro de 2006. Os formulários visavam identificar a oferta de equipamentos, produtos e serviços turísticos oferecidos pela cidade, sendo assim, foi realizada uma análise de conteúdo por parte dos alunos envolvidos na ação e então, as informações foram inseridas posteriormente no sistema idealizado pela CTIS com vistas a identificar a potencialidade turística de municípios da Amazônia Legal, entre eles, Tefé. Tal pesquisa permitiu estabelecer correlações entre Tefé e as demais localidades de Foz do Iguaçu e Porto Seguro; e ainda foi aplicada uma entrevista com o funcionário do Ministério do Turismo, Cristiano Borges, em 07 de março de 2007. Be which is the reason, the tourism always mobilizes a lot of people and it leaves a trace of benefits that makes to rotate the wheels of the development all over the world. The tourism promotes the local development when enlarging the resident citizens' of the visited place economical and social opportunities. The local community's union with the tourist trade enlarges the possibility to generate wealths and more than to promote improvements, the tourism can spread their benefits for the whole area and to increase still more the advantages for the own municipal district. Many local governments intend to turn their respective thirsts in attractive tourist destinies, but for that, it is necessary there to be an appropriate infrastructure for the due services rendered and still, disposal of qualified labor to assist the visitor well, in other words, the attraction in itself is not enough to maintain the tourist in the place. The purpose of this work is to analyze the importance of the inventory of the tourist offer, that acts as a tool of the tourist planning and in the elaboration of public politics that seek the maintainable development through the tourism. The research was qualitative and the methods of employed procedures were comparative and statistical for analysis of the hypotheses. The research was exploratory and the techniques of collection of data used were: researches secondary in files of public and private organs of interest, in sites and in specialized bibliography; the observation happened during the trip with the Rondon Project, where the Ministry of the Tourism designated students of Tourism to accomplish an inventory in Tefe and during the field research, they were applied forms to entrepreneurs of the tourist trade of the city, as well as to employees of the City hall in the period from February 04th to February 20th, 2006. The forms sought to identify the offer of equipments, products and tourist services offered by the city, being like this, a content analysis was accomplished on the part of the students involved in the action and then, the information were inserted later in the system idealized by CTIS with views to identify the tourist potentiality of municipal districts of the Amazonian, among them, Tefe. Such research allowed to establish correlations between Tefe and the other places of Iguaçu Falls and Porto Seguro; and still an interview was applied with the employee of the Ministry of the Tourism, Cristiano Borges, on March 07, 2007.
