Por um lado, houve manifestações a favor da prisão de Lula; pelo outro, vimos manifestações a favor da sua liberdade e candidatura à Presidência. No Twitter, essa batalha pôde ser percebida por meio das hashtags #LulaLivre e #LulaPreso, contrapondo os cidadãos a favor ou contra a condenação e posterior prisão de Lula. Nesse processo contencioso, parte dos usuários do Twitter lançou mão do uso de memes para emitir opinião sobre o julgamento do maior líder do Partido dos Trabalhadores. Os memes da Internet são hoje parte da cultura digital, marcada pela individualidade conectada em redes. O emprego de memes como performance comunicativa na discussão sobre política cria e reforça diferentes enquadramentos coletivos. O objetivo deste trabalho é entender se, no caso analisado, os memes foram usados como prática digital ativista, de modo a advogar a favor ou contra a condenação de Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. It is possible to state that it has ideologically divided the country. On the one hand, there were demonstrations in favor of the imprisonment of Lula; on the other hand, there were demonstrations in favor of his freedom and in favor of his candidacy for the presidency. On Twitter, this battle could be perceived through the hashtags #LulaLivre (#LulaFree) and #LulaPreso (#LulaArrested), through which social media users mobilized for or against Lula’s trial and subsequent arrest. As part of this contentious process, Twitter users intensively created and diffused memes to express their opinions. Internet memes are now part of digital culture, characterized by networked individuality. The use of memes as a communicative performance in political debates creates and reinforces different collective frameworks. The goal of this research is to understand if, in the case analyzed, the memes were used as a digital activist practice, as a way of advocating in favor or against Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s trial.
