Atualmente, apesar dos avanços, o deficiente ainda encontra muitas dificuldades, em partes, fruto da construção culturalmente montada a seu respeito, enxergando-os como inferiores e incapazes. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva aonde a Teoria das Representações Sociais, que busca compreender os conceitos que estão atrelados a determinados fenômenos por parte de um grupo social, foi utilizada com objetivo de verificar como 33 responsáveis ou acompanhantes dos deficientes em um Centro de Ensino Especial os veem. Currently, in spite of the advances, the handicapped still face many difficulties. In parts, these difficulties derive from the way they are culturally constructed; in this regard, they are perceived as inferior and incapable. This is a descriptive study where the Theory of Social Representations, which seeks to understand the concepts that are linked certain phenomena by a social group, was used with the purpose of verifying how 33 guardians or companion person with disabilities in a Special Education Center see them.
