Assim como a República, o Clitofonte aborda o tema da justiça, onde se busca a sua definição e o produto do homem justo. No Clitofonte é questionada a validade do método de ensino utilizado por Sócrates sobre qualquer assunto. O ensino de Sócrates através da exortação é considerado válido, mas o diálogo sugere que só a exortação não basta; é necessário, além de encontrar a conceituação precisa do tema, descobrir qual o produto gerado pelo mesmo. Através dessas etapas do ensino, o aluno, além de adquirir a consciência sobre o tema, seria capaz de pôr em prática o ensinamento e, por conseguinte, incorporá-lo à sua vida. O estudo do diálogo demanda, portanto, um esclarecimento sobre o método de exortação. Similar to the Republic, the Clitophon addresses the theme of justice, where it seeks its definition and the product of the just man. In Clitophon is questioned the validity of the method of teaching used by Socrates on any subject. The teaching of Socrates through the exhortation is considered valid, but the dialogue suggests that the exhortation alone is not enough; it is necessary, besides finding the precise conceptualization of the theme, to discover which product is generated by it. Through these stages of teaching, the student, in addition to acquiring awareness on the subject, would be able to put the teaching into practice and, therefore, incorporate it into his life. The study of dialogue therefore demands clarification on the method of exhortation.
