Este objetivo evidenciou-se a partir do objeto de pesquisa, o estudo da obesidade, que ressaltou a necessidade de discutir sobre essa nova demanda de usuários obesos. Para isso, foi averiguado bibliograficamente e por meio de entrevistas com os usuários obesos do Hospital Universitário de Brasília – HUB, com vistas a identificar essa problemática. O Serviço Social e sua relação com a obesidade, também foi apresentado no referencial teórico. A metodologia que norteou este estudo utilizou instrumentos formais de pesquisa qualitativa de coleta de dados, tais como: entrevistas a partir de um roteiro semi-estruturado, bem como análise e reflexão de documentos à luz do material teórico coletado em pesquisa bibliográfica. Foram realizadas vinte e quatro entrevistas, em profundidade, com usuários obesos do Hospital Universitário de Brasília – HUB. Dentre os resultados verificou-se que a grande maioria diz sofrer preconceitos por estarem obesos e que a sociedade não compreende o que é a doença obesidade. Além disso, foram identificadas particularidades como a questão do não acesso a alimentos saudáveis¹ com facilidade e que isto é devido a renda baixa do usuário, ou seja, desigualdade social. Em suma, o propósito desse trabalho é iniciar o debate sobre a obesidade em sua totalidade identificando esse olhar social diante das dificuldades enfrentadas pelos usuários. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis thesis aimed to examine obesity as a disease arising from the vulnerability physical and social of the individual and inform the main peculiarities and difficulties faced by obese users , aiming to discuss the need for recognition of the disease by society , and involve the work of the social worker before this new demand. This goal was evident from the problem research that stressed the need to discuss this new demand for obese users . For this, it was examined Bibliographically and through interviews with obese members of the University Hospital of Brasilia - HUB , in order to identify this problem. Social work and its relationship with obesity , was also presented in the theoretical framework . The methodology that guided this study used formal tools of qualitative research data collection , such as interviews from a semi - structured interview and document analysis and reflection on the theoretical material collected in literature . Twenty-four interviews were conducted in-depth , with obese members of the University Hospital of Brasilia - HUB . Among the results it was found that the vast majority says suffer prejudice for being obese and that society does not understand what the disease is obesity. In addition , features such as the issue of not having access to healthy foods¹ were easily identified and that this is due to poor user , ie social inequality .
