MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo transversal do tipo descritivo, com bombeiros militares da região do Distrito Federal, no ano de 2017. Foram incluídos no estudo homens e mulheres com idade entre 21 e 55 anos de idade e que trabalhem regularmente no corpo de bombeiros por um período superior a um ano. Foram excluídos os participantes que não responderem o questionário de forma correta ou que estiverem afastados da função no momento da avaliação, e bombeiros na reforma. A avaliação da qualidade de vida foi mediante a aplicação do questionário SF-36, composto por 36 itens, sendo estes divididos em 8 domínios. E através de um questionário semiestruturado foi coletado dados como sexo, idade, estado civil, entre outros, afim de conhecer o perfil da população entrevistada. RESULTADOS: Dos 178 bombeiros avaliados, 20 são do sexo feminino e 168 do sexo masculino. A qualidade de vida demonstrou uma média geral de 69,11 ± 26,53 pontos. Os homens apresentaram pontuação média (69,15 ± 1,41) maior que as mulheres (68,75 ± 26,71). A capacidade funcional (80,67 ± 20,25) obteve o melhor resultado, enquanto que a dor (61,21 ± 22,89) apresentou o pior resultado em média. METHODS: This is a descriptive transversal study with military firefighters from the Federal District, in the year 2017. Were included men and women with ages between 21 and 55 years of age, that work regularly for a period exceeding one year. Were excluded the participants that didn´t answer the questionary correctly or that at the time of the evaluation were away from the function and firefighters in retirement.The evaluation of the quality of life was through the application of the SF-36, composed of 36 items, divided into 8 domains. And through a questionary semi structured were collected data like sex, age, marital status, among others to know the profile of the population interviewed. RESULTS: Of the 178 firemen evaluated, 20 were female and 168 were male. Quality of life showed an overall mean of 69,11 ± 26,53 points. Men showed average score (69,15 ±1,41) higher than women (68,75 ± 26,71). The functional capacity (80,67 ± 20,25) got better result while pain (61,21 ± 22,89) presented the worst result on average.
