A partir disso, com base no princípio de que elas colaboram para levantar questões relevantes da sociedade e que tiveram papel importante de resistência no período, buscou-se entender se os veículos utilizaram o humor gráfico como instrumento de crítica política. Para a proposta da pesquisa, foram analisadas ilustrações produzidas por cada jornal ao longo dos anos 1964, 1975 e 1985, como forma de verificar início, meio e fim dos governos militares. A observação e a análise do material coletado foram baseadas em três passos: investigação do contexto histórico por meio de notícias publicadas nos periódicos e de consulta de livros de história, fundamentação teórica acerca das charges para entender o que são e como podem ser compreendidas e na influência e no papel delas como fonte de opinião. Ao final do estudo, foi possível conferir, nos três períodos observados, que O Globo posicionou-se de maneira conservadora e não fez uso de ilustrações nacionais como crítica até 1985, e que a Folha fez críticas mais leves até 1975. Paulo approached cartoons during the military dictatorship. From this, based on the principle that they collaborate to raise relevant issues in society and had a important role of resistance in that period, it was sought to understand whether the vehicles used graphic humor as a tool of political critique. For the research proposal, were analyzed illustrations of each journal over the years 1964, 1975 and 1985 as a way to verify the beginning, middle and end of the military governments. Observation and data analysis were based on three steps: research of the historical context through news published in journals and by consulting history books; theoretical foundation about the cartoons to understand what they are, how they can be understood, their influence and their role as a source of opinion. At the end of the study, it was possible to check, in the three observed periods, that O Globo was positioned conservatively and did not use as critical national illustrations until 1985, and that Folha made lighter criticism until 1975.
