Apesar de ser amplamente utilizado, o BNAI é uma das técnicas anestésicas que apresenta maior taxa de insucesso. Objetivo: O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre os principais fatores associados às falhas no BNAI e apresentar técnicas alternativas, visando diminuir tais falhas. Metodologia: foi realizada uma busca nas bases de dados PubMed e Lilacs e 60 estudos foram lidos, após serem aplicados os critérios de inclusão e exclusão 45 artigos foram selecionados para realização do trabalho. Dados como variação anatômica, técnica utilizada, solução anestésica e os resultados obtidos em cada estudo foram analisados. O BNAI é uma técnica amplamente aplicada em casos de analgesia mandibular, entretanto, os estudos mostram que existem dificuldades em obter tal analgesia, principalmente por variações anatômicas, erros na aplicação da técnica e também pelos tipos de soluções anestésicas utilizadas. Although it is widely used, INAB is one of the anesthetic techniques that presents a higher rate of failure. Objective: The objective of this work is to perform a literature review on the main factors associated with INAB failures and to present alternative techniques to reduce such failures. Methodology: a search was performed on the PubMed and Lilacs databases and 60 studies were read, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria 45 articles were selected to perform the work. Data such as anatomical variation, technique used, anesthetic solution and the results obtained in each study were analyzed. The INAB is a widely applied technique in cases of mandibular analgesia, however, studies show that there are difficulties in obtaining such analgesia, mainly due to anatomical variations, errors in the application of the technique and also by the types of anesthetic solutions used.
