O memoricídio é o ato de destruição da memória, e como bibliotecas e livros possuem uma vasta representatividade da memória coletiva, são constantemente alvos dessas atrozes destruições por causa de sua força e poder para a identidade de uma nação. Esse trabalho tem como mote principal demonstrar as causas da destruição dos livros e bibliotecas e quais são os principais biblioclastas, além de demonstrar como o livro é um valioso patrimônio. The memoricide is the act of destruction of memory, and how libraries and books have a wide representation of collective memory, are constantly targets of these atrocious destruction because of their strength and power to the identity of a nation. This work has as main theme demonstrate the causes of destruction to books and libraries and what are the main biblioclast, and show how the book is a valuable heritage. What we saw in this work is a small part and attempt to understand the causes of destruction in libraries, and especially how important it is to protect them and preserve them for future generations, showing the value of its importance to society and nation, because libraries are always friendly man and should not be seen as the opposite.
