No ano de 2015, o Distrito Federal (DF) revelou uma proporção de 55% de cesáreas, enquanto esse indicador na cidade de Ceilândia - DF, em 2014, atingiu o valor de 47%. O aumento do número de cesáreas, nos últimos anos, está atrelado a diversos fatores, alguns dos quais motivam a decisão da mulher grávida pelo procedimento cirúrgico. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste trabalho consistiu em conhecer os motivos que influenciam as mulheres gestantes, de uma Unidade Básica de Saúde da Superintendência da Região de Saúde Oeste, na cidade de Ceilândia – DF, na preferência por parto ou cesárea, no primeiro semestre de 2017. Partiu-se da premissa de que muitas das razões das mulheres terem preferência pela cesárea estão relacionadas à desinformação dos possíveis riscos as quais estão sujeitas durante e após a cirurgia, e somada à decisão dessas mulheres influenciadas por experiências negativas em partos anteriores. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva de estratégia quanti-qualitativa, incluindo entrevistas semiestruturadas (N=15) e observação participante. Os dados quantitativos foram organizados em planilha Excel 2013, enquanto os qualitativos receberam tratamento pela análise de conteúdo temática. A maioria (73%) das mulheres indicou ter preferência pelo parto sobre a cesárea. As razões influentes nessa decisão apareceram ligadas às experiências próprias e de outras mulheres bem como ao valor atribuído à recuperação mais rápida. In the year 2015, the Distrito Federal (DF), Brazil, revealed a ratio of 55% of cesarean section, while this indicator in the city of Ceilândia-DF, in 2014, has reached the value of 47%. The increased number of cesarean section in recent years is related to several factors, some of which motivate the decision of the pregnant woman by the surgical procedure. Therefore, the aim of this study was to know the reasons that influence the pregnant women, at an Basic Health Unit of the Superintendence of the Health region West, in the city of Ceilândia-DF, about the preference for delivery or cesarean section, in the first half of 2017. It was based on the premise that many of the reasons women have preference for cesarean section are related to the misinformation of the possible risks which are subject during and after surgery, and added the decision of these women be influenced by negative experiences in previous births. It is a descriptive research of quantitative and qualitative strategies, including semi-structured interviews (N = 15) and participant observation. Quantitative data were organized into Excel spreadsheet 2013, while qualitative received treatment by thematic content analysis. The majority (73%) of the women indicated preference for childbirth over the c-section. The influential reasons in that decision appeared linked to their experiences and the experiences of other women's as well as the value attributed to faster recovery.
