A compreensão da formação do Orientador Educacional, no contexto das atuais perspectivas do mundo do trabalho, requer uma análise detalhada das bases teóricas que fundamentam sua ação centrada na evolução dos conceitos psicológicos e histórico-sociais, além dos fundamentos educacionais. O propósito foi abordar a Orientação Educacional, como área do conhecimento no contexto do trabalho da Orientação na escola. A questão central é: será que, de fato, as bases teóricas psicológicas da formação do Orientador Educacional dão conta de seu trabalho na escola? Por seu turno, os objetivos específicos são: conhecer sobre a Orientação Profissional no Brasil; abordar e discutir algumas bases teóricas da Psicologia que norteiam o trabalho da Orientação Vocacional; caracterizar alguns fundamentos do mundo do trabalho no contexto atual da Orientação Profissional; mapear, por um recorte metodológico, a formação de Orientadores Educacionais que atuam nas escolas públicas da educação básica do Distrito Federal. O interesse pela temática surgiu de uma evidência e de duas suposições: a evidência, proveniente da literatura consultada, de que a formação do Orientador Profissional não estaria adequadamente contemplada nas formações tradicionais do curso de Pedagogia; a primeira suposição é a de que esta inadequação se daria pelo desconhecimento, por esse profissional, das teorias apropriadas para o seu trabalho; e a segunda, de que esse desconhecimento não habilitaria efetivamente o profissional da Orientação Profissional na condução de seu desempenho frente à atual realidade do mundo do trabalho e seus impactos na formação. Estas hipóteses foram testadas pela aplicação e análise de questionários junto a profissionais da área de Orientação Educacional, em três escolas da rede pública. Os resultados revelam que a formação dos respondentes deu-se no sistema de habilitações e de pós-graduação; a duração média de tempo de serviço na mesma escola é de 13 anos; e, ainda, a existência de uma não identificação da abordagem teórica utilizada no trabalho cotidiano com a Orientação. Conclui-se que, para enfrentar os desafios no campo da educação e do trabalho, decorrentes do atual desenvolvimento tecnológico, se faz necessária a formação continuada dos profissionais que atuam na área da Orientação Educacional e Profissional. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis study focuses on the theoretical basis of the formation of Guidance Counselor. The understanding of the formation of the Guidance Counselor in the context of current perspectives in the world of work requires a detailed analysis of the theoretical basis underlying its action focused on the evolution of psychological concepts and history-social, and educational fundamentals. The purpose was to discuss the Educational Guidance, as an area of knowledge in the context of the work of Guidance at school. The central question is: will, in fact, the theoretical psychological training of Guidance Counselor realize their work in school? On the other hand, the specific objectives are: to know about the career counseling in Brazil; approach and discuss some theoretical foundations of psychology that guide the work of the Vocational Guidance; characterize some fundamentals of the working world in the current context of the Vocational Guidance; map for one methodological approach, the formation of Educational Advisors who work in the public schools of basic education in the Federal District. The interest in the subject arose from evidence and two assumptions: the evidence from the literature, that the formation of the Professional Advisor would not be adequately addressed in traditional formations of the Faculty of Education, the first assumption is that this inadequacy is would by ignorance, by that professional theories appropriate to their work, and the second assumption, that this ignorance was not effectively would enable the professional Career Guidance in conducting their performance against the current reality of the world of work and its impact on education. These hypotheses were tested by applying and analyzing questionnaires to professionals Educational Guidance in three public schools. The results show that the formation of the respondents gave up the system of education and graduate, the average length of service time in the same school is 13 years, and also the existence of a failure to identify the theoretical approach in the daily work with the Guidance.
