Métodos: Estudo descritivo sobre a mortalidade por suicídio no Distrito Federal no período de 2000 a 2014. Dados coletados no Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (SIM/DATASUS), tabulados e analisados no Microsoft Excel®. Resultados: Foram encontrados 1.628 registros de óbitos por suicídio no Distrito Federal no período analisado. A taxa de mortalidade foi de 4.4 óbitos/100 mil habitantes. A predominância de óbitos foi em homens (75.4%), de 20 a 39 anos (52%), de cor parda (70.3%), com 0 a 7 anos de estudo (44.7%) e solteiros (62.4%). O principal local de ocorrência foi o domicílio (48.4%) e o método prevalente foi o enforcamento (47.5%). The predominance of deaths occurred in men (75.4%), 20-39 years (52%), Brown people (70.3%) with 0-7 years of education (44.7%) and single (62.4%). The main place of occurrence was at home (48.4%) and the prevalent method was hanging (47.5%). Conclusions: The epidemiological analysis has an important value and can be use like basis for the design of early prevention strategies and effective public politics that have an impact on reducing of suicide.Objetivos: Describir los registros de suicidio en el Distrito Federal. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo sobre la mortalidad por suicidio en el Distrito Federal de 2000 hasta 2014. Los datos recogidos en el Sistema de Información sobre Mortalidad (SIM) del Departamento de Informática del Sistema Único de Salud (DATASUS), fueron tabulados y analizados en Microsoft Excel®. Resultados: Fueron obtenidos 1.628 registros de muertes por suicidio en el Distrito Federal durante el periodo. La tasa de mortalidad fue de 4.4 muertes / 100 mil habitantes. El predominio de las muertes fue en los hombres (75,4%), 20-39 años (52%), Moreno (70,3%) con 0-7 años de estudio (44,7%) y solteros (62,4%). El principal lugar de ocurrencia fue el domicilio (48,4%) y el método frecuente fue el ahorcamiento (47,5%).
