Para tal optou-se na construção de um estudo de caso para apreender a dimensão da realidade social no município a fim de identificar se o Turismo como uma possibilidade de desenvolvimento social conseguiu alcançar à transformação e melhoria na qualidade de vida da comunidade local. O método utilizado na investigação foi a dialética e adotou-se uma abordagem de natureza qualitativa, de nível exploratória e interpretativa. Utilizou-se como metodologias a análise documental, a realização de entrevistas com moradores locais no destino e a análise dos índices - Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano Municipal (IDHM) e Índice FIRJAN de Desenvolvimento Municipal. Ressalta-se que a pesquisa é um esforço em debater a qualidade do desenvolvimento do Turismo na localidade, rompendo com algumas imposições pragmáticas e valorizando a subjetividade intrínseca dos sujeitos, contudo, esta se demonstra limitada frente à complexidade do universo real do território. For this, it chose to build a case study to understand the social reality dimension in the municipality in order to identify if the Tourism as a possibility for social development managed to achieve transformation and improvement in the quality of life of the local community. The method used in the research was the dialectic and it adopted an approach of qualitative nature, of exploratory and interpretative level. The documentary analysis, the interviews with local residents at the destination and the analysis of the indexes - Municipal Human Development Index (MHDI) and the FIRJAN Municipal Development Index, were used as methodologies. It is emphasized that the research is an effort to discuss the quality of Tourism development in the locality, breaking with some pragmatic impositions and valuing the intrinsic subjectivity of the subjects, however this is limited in the face of the complexity of the real universe of the territory.
