Considerado por muitos como o pai do cristianismo na Irlanda, a Patrício é atribuído inúmeros milagres e, mais importante, a missão de ter levado a religião cristã ao território irlandês, país esse que contava com um sistema político descentralizado e uma sociedade extremamente pagã. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a vida de Patrício e a expansão do cristianismo na Irlanda. Levando em consideração a realidade do século VI, com a crise do Império Romano do Ocidente, a movimentação dos grupos ditos germânicos e a expansão do cristianismo, a primeira parte do trabalho analisa os dois Patrícios, o santo e o histórico. Considered by many the father of Christianity in Ireland, it is attribute to Patrick many miracles and, most important, the mission of have taken the Cristian religion to Irish territory, a country that had a politic system decentralized and a society extremely pagan. The present work have as object study the life of Patrick and the expansion of Christianity in Ireland. Taking in consideration the reality of sixth century, with the Roman Empire crisis, the slavery relations and the expansion of Christianity, this work begins with an analysis of the Ireland’s Christianization, trying to distinguish the saint Patrick and the historic Patrick.
