A análise de pontos de função, um dos métodos mais conhecidos para medição de tamanho funcional, tem a proposta de medir o tamanho funcional de software na visão do usuário. Os órgãos públicos brasileiros utilizam a contagem de pontos de função em seus contratos como base para remuneração de fornecedores de serviços de desenvolvimento de software. Esse processo é feito por meio do preenchimento de planilhas sem um padrão definido. Em alguns casos a contagem de pontos de função de software pode ser exaustiva. Nesse contexto algumas ferramentas possibilitam a automatização e uma maior agilidade na execução desta tarefa. No entanto, problemas relacionados a usabilidade das ferramentas disponíveis tem inibido seu uso por partes dos órgãos governamentais.Por outro lado, pode-se notar um crescimento das iniciativas de desenvolvimento de softwares livres, aqueles aos quais tem-se acesso ao código e o direito de alterar, copiar e distribuir seu conteúdo. Function point analysis, one of the most well-known methods for measuring functional size, has the purpose of measuring the functional size of software in the user’s view. Brazilian public agencies use the function point counting in their contracts as the basis for remuneration of software development service providers. This process is done by filling out worksheets without a defined standard. In some cases the counting of software function points can be exhaustive. In this context some tools enable automation and greater agility in the execution of this task. However, problems related to the usability of the available tools have inhibited its use by parts of government agencies. On the other hand, one can notice an increase in the initiatives of development of free software, those to which one has access to the code and the right To change, copy and distribute your content.
