Autism and the neurodiversity paradigm in educational research

Resumo: This work sought to identify the ways in which autism is addressed in educational research situated in the field of the critical autism studies, through a review of the national and international literature produced between 2007 and 2020. The results showed a growing knowledge production on the international scene, but still scarce at the national level. The analysis showed that, from the perspective of neurodiversity, autism assumes an identitarian, political and social character that contributes to the development of proposals based on accessibility and participation of autistic students, guaranteeing their permanence and learning in educational institutions.

Los resultados evidenciaron una creciente producción del conocimiento en el panorama internacional, pero todavía escaso a nivel nacional. El análisis mostró que, desde la perspectiva de la neurodiversidad, el autismo asume un carácter identitario, político y social que contribuye al desarrollo de propuestas basadas en la accesibilidad y participación de los estudiantes autistas, garantizando su permanencia y aprendizaje en las instituciones educativas.Este trabalho buscou identificar os modos como o autismo é abordado em pesquisas educacionais situadas no campo dos estudos críticos do autismo, por meio de pesquisa de revisão da literatura nacional e internacional produzida entre 2007 e 2020. Os resultados mostraram crescente produção do conhecimento no cenário internacional, mas ainda escassa em âmbito nacional.
