HISTORICAL AND EPISTEMOLOGICAL ISSUES CONCERNING BEHAVIORIST APPROACH:: ABOUT THE TRANSITION OF CLASSICAL BEHAVIORISM TO NEOBEHAVIORISM

The study was designed to investigate whether the conditionsfor the development of the methodological priority as far as its influence onthe study of privacy by a science of behavior could be historical and epistemological aspects of two differents versions of behavioristicapproach: the classical (Watsonian) behaviorism and neobehaviorism.Theprocedure consisted in theoretical analysis of bibliografic material concerningto a) Watson's behaviorism; b) the relations between it and neobehaviorism.It was observed, as results, that: a) the purpose of Watson'sbehaviorism to convert psychology in a natural science had two features:i) the priority of methodological dimension: and ii) the need of a epistemologicalsupport for it: b) one of the main characterístics of neobehaviorismwas to search that support in logical positivism; c)there are interpretativecontroversies in the study of the relations between that two approaches.These data suggest that relations mentioned above could be a criterion tomake difference between versions in the behavioristic approach, speciallyin the demarcation of radical behaviorism.
