Resumo: Psychoanalytic clinic has always been connected to social reality, since each historical time brings differentdemands and singular ways to address them. However, nowadays, the weakening of the symbolic field calls the belief in theOther into question, and, therefore, the concepts of subject and clinic. This article aims to extract, from a clinical case thataddresses the topic of drug consumption, an effort from Lacan’s psychoanalytical orientation to ensure the role of the subject.

This article aims to extract, from a clinical case thataddresses the topic of drug consumption, an effort from Lacan’s psychoanalytical orientation to ensure the role of the subject.A teoria psicanalítica concebe o lugar do caso clínico e sua metodologia a partir de uma série de particularidades em relação ao relato de caso tradicional. Em adição a esse fato, vemos, atualmente, uma prática da psicanálise que sofre os efeitos de uma realidade social que vê alterada a demanda do sujeito e seu endereçamento ao Outro. Diante dessas duas constatações, torna-se pertinente discutir as especificidades da clínica psicanalítica hoje, diante de sujeitos que se apresentam menos permeáveis ao Outro e ao endereçamento de qualquer questão.
