Resumo: | Based on William James' radical empiricism this essay deals with his ideas on the self, the / and the me - termsintroduced by him to shed light on concepts like subjectivity, the subjective and the subject. Then his theory of the subject asstream of thought is presented, as well as his criticism of philosophies of the subject, like substantialism, transcendentalismand associationism. It is also shown that the subject in this theory is consciousness and interested cognition and, as such, it isable to define the subject in the level of psychological investigation. Finally, it is suggested effective relationships between thistheory and the constructivist psychotherapy. |

Finally, it is suggested effective relationships between thistheory and the constructivist psychotherapy.
