Resumo: The Brazilian version of the Levenson's trifactorial scale oflocus of control was administered to 1199 male and female subjects withan age average of 27.07 years (SD = 9.80). Data were factor analysed, using the principal factor solution, with an eingenvalue = 1.5. Both orthogonal(Varimax) and oblique (Oblimin) rotations were used. Results revealedisomorphic empirical factors with theoretically postulated dimensions. Thus, the factorial validity of the Brazilian version was established. Theorthogonal solution yielded more consistent factors. The Cronbach alphacoeficients were also calculated for each sub-scale as well as for the TotalInternality. Results are discussed on the basis of the psychometric theoryand with references to the original and Venezuelian version's results.
