Resumo: This study describes an intervention program for exceptionalchildren. Date regarding the children was gathered through behaviorobservation and enterviews with parents. The subjects were 13exceptional children, whose ages varied from 10 months through threeyears and 11 months, and their parents. The intervention was carriedout in the child's own home, involving two conditions: 1) general orientationof the family through discussion of the child's major behaviorproblems; 2) training of parents in the use of specifics programs. Theresults showed that after three months, significant changes ocurred inparents attitudes as well as in the children's behavior.

Foram atendidas 13 crianças, de idades entre 10 meses e 3 anos e 11 meses. A intervenção foi programada para cada caso individualmente e desenvolvida na própria casa da criança. Consistiu em: a) orientação geral à família, através da discussão dos problemas; b) treinamento da mãe ou outra pessoa da casa na execução de programas para desenvolver habilidades verbais e motoras (através de instruções e demonstrações).
