Research on library services for immigrants in national libraries

Resumo: The purpose of the research carried out is to verify the needs of immigrant library users, as well as the existence, effectiveness and efficiency of library services for this group, since, as has been observed in recent years, the immigration is steadily increasing. In the first place, it begins with a bibliographic review, through which the use and needs of immigrants regarding library services are glimpsed. Subsequently, a study consisting of an analysis of the services of 26 national libraries is carried out, based on the HDI, number of libraries per inhabitant and the number of immigrants in the country (originally they are based on 30 countries, 10 per indicator, however, due to repetitions and the existence of one as a protectorate, they are reduced to 26). For this, an analysis of the websites of the national libraries of the aforementioned selected countries is carried out in search of specific services for this group (in April 2020). This research shows us the lack of effective services and / or services for immigrant users. Once with these data and adding them to the bibliographic research previously carried out, the need to implement, improve and update the aforementioned services for immigrants is concluded.

En primer lugar, se parte de una revisión bibliográfica, mediante la cual se vislumbran el uso y las necesidades de las personas inmigrantes respecto a los servicios bibliotecarios. Posteriormente se realiza un estudio consistente en un análisis de los servicios de 26 bibliotecas nacionales, en función del IDH, número de bibliotecas por habitante y el número de inmigrantes en el país (originalmente se parten de 30 países, 10 por indicador, sin embargo, debido a repeticiones y la existencia de uno como protectorado, quedan reducidos a 26). Para ello se realiza un análisis de las webs de las bibliotecas nacionales de los mencionados países seleccionados en busca de servicios específicos para este colectivo (en abril de 2020). Esta investigación nos muestra la falta de servicios y/o servicios eficaces para los usuarios inmigrantes. Una vez con estos datos, y sumándolos a la investigación bibliográfica previamente realizada, se concluye la necesidad de implementación, mejora y actualización de los mencionados servicios para personas inmigrantes.O objetivo desta investigação é verificar as necessidades dos utilizadores de bibliotecas de imigrantes, bem como a existência, eficácia e eficiência dos serviços de biblioteca para este grupo, dado que, como tem sido observado nos últimos anos, a imigração está a aumentar de forma constante. Em primeiro lugar, começamos com uma revisão bibliográfica, através da qual são delineadas a utilização e as necessidades dos imigrantes no que diz respeito aos serviços da biblioteca. Segue-se um estudo que consiste numa análise dos serviços de 26 bibliotecas nacionais em termos de IDH, número de bibliotecas por habitante e número de imigrantes no país (originalmente o ponto de partida era 30 países, 10 por indicador, mas devido às repetições e à existência de um como protetorado, este foi reduzido para 26). Para este efeito, foi efetuada uma análise dos sítios Web das bibliotecas nacionais dos países selecionados acima mencionados, em busca de serviços específicos para este grupo (em Abril de 2020). Esta investigação mostra-nos a falta de serviços e/ou de serviços eficazes para os utilizadores imigrantes.
