Resumo: | This article addresses topics related to the new silk road, the Chinese initiative that generates significant geopolitical and economic impacts over the globe. Part of this Chinese projection framework is its financial activism, notably through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Silk Road Fund. The drive to boost the economy and trade with other countries through logistical improvements is highlighted. aiming to increase the country’s energy security and to promote favorable conditions for the flow of its industrial production. It is suggested that China's success has to its President Xi Jinping and the assertive conduct of his decisions to implement the new silk road, with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCX) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean+3) as important multilateral forums for decision making. This infrastructure investment megaproject involving more than 65 countries, has the potential to challenge the Western supremacy represented by the US hegemony, in this 21st century. |
