Resumo: In this text we search the meaning of the patriarchateconcept in the Brazilian Social Thought. We observe how thedominance system is conceived in a wide form that incorporatesthe dimensions of sexuality, of reproduction and of the relationshipbetween men and women in the context of a slavery system. Wesustain that, if even in the societies where the public differs fromthe private, the gender relations remain patriarchal, in the scopeof the patrimonial societies the involvement between public andprivate did not result in a larger political or economic participationof the women in this sphere for the own patriarchal origin of thebureaucracy in the context of a patriarchal patrimonialism
