As manifestações bucais da DC mais freqüentemente relatadas são as úlceras aftosas recorrentes (UAR), os defeitos de desenvolvimento de esmalte e o atraso na cronologia de erupção dentária. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar as manifestações bucais em pacientes com diagnóstico de Doença Celíaca, acompanhados no Centro de Diagnóstico de Doença Celíaca do Hospital Universitário de Brasília (HUB). Foram estudados 50 pacientes celíacos, com idades compreendidas entre 3 e 19 anos, de ambos os gêneros. Os pacientes foram submetidos a exame clínico odontológico e radiográfico. Os defeitos de desenvolvimento de esmalte foram detectados por meio de estudo transversal de caso-controle e no grupo-controle foram examinados 150 pacientes, pareados em gênero e idade, sem diagnóstico de DC. Para a análise da cronologia de erupção dentária foi utilizado o método de Demirjian (1973). A prevalência de úlceras aftosas recorrentes no grupo dos pacientes celíacos foi 58%, sendo o gênero feminino mais afetado. No estudo dos defeitos de desenvolvimento de esmalte, não foi observada diferença significativa entre o grupo de pacientes celíacos e grupo-controle. Ao ser estabelecida uma correlação entre a idade dentária e a cronológica, nos pacientes celíacos, nenhuma diferença significativa foi observada. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTCeliac Disease is defined as an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine caused by a permanent sensitivity in individuals who are genetically susceptible. The most frequent oral manifestations related to Celiac Disease are recurring aphthous ulcers, development defects of enamel as well as delayed tooth eruption. The object of this study, held at the Centro de Diagnóstico de Doença Celíaca do Hospital Universitário de Brasília (HUB), (Center for Diagnosing Celiac Disease of the University of Brasilia Hospital), was to characterize the oral manifestations in patients who had been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. 50 celiac patients between the ages of 03 and 19, of both genders, were studied. The patients were submitted to a clinical dental and radiological exam. Development defects of enamel was done using a transversal study of case-control and in the control group, 150 patients were studied, pared by gender and age, without a Celiac Disease diagnostic. The Demirjian method (1973) was used for analysis of the dental eruption chronology. The prevalence of recurring aphthous ulcers in celiac patients was 58%, with the female gender showing the higher incidence. The study of defects in enamel development showed no significant difference between the celiac patients and the control group.
