A reflection on the vocation for foreign trade in the state of Espírito Santo

Resumo: The present work analyzes the foreign trade’s influence on the microregions of Espirito Santo state. Therefore, beyond a comparison between the capixaba and Brazilian foreign trade, the behavior of ten commercial flows are compared – the sums of the exportation with the imports – and the regional GPDs, besides its opening coefficients. The main sectors and products involved with these sales are identified in each micro-region of the State. As a result, we verify that the major concentrations of these activities are located in places that house big industrial enterprises that were implemented since the 1960’s, In other words, sparsely dispersed in capixaba territory. Among possible measures to reverse this scenario, there is the promotion of activities exchange among enterprises and professionals of different sectors of Espirito Santo’s economy, which would allow to amplify the number of professionals with knowledge about the necessary practices to act in this commerce. Para tanto, más allá de una comparación entre Espírito Santo y el comercio exterior brasileño, se evalúa el desempeño de las diez microrregiones del estado. Se compara el comportamiento de los flujos comerciales – las sumas de exportaciones e importaciones - y de los PBI regionales, además de sus coeficientes de apertura. Se identifican los principales sectores y productos involucrados con estas ventas en cada microrregión del Estado. Como resultado, parece que las mayores concentraciones de estas actividades se encuentran en lugares que albergan grandes proyectos industriales implementados desde mediados de la década de 1960. O sea, están poco dispersos en el territorio de Espírito Santo. Entre las posibles medidas para revertir esta situación estaría la promoción de actividades de intercambio entre empresas y profesionales de diferentes sectores de la economía de Espírito Santo, lo que permitiría incrementar el número de profesionales con conocimiento sobre las prácticas necesarias para operar en este oficio. Para tanto, além de uma comparação entre o comércio exterior capixaba e brasileiro, são avaliados os desempenhos das dez microrregiões do Estado. São comparados os comportamentos dos fluxos comerciais – somas das exportações com as importações – e dos PIBs regionais, além de seus coeficientes de abertura. São identificados os principais setores e produtos envolvidos com essas comercializações em cada microrregião do Estado. Como resultado, verifica-se que as maiores concentrações dessas atividades estão em locais que abrigam grandes empreendimentos industriais implementados desde meados de 1960. Ou seja, pouco dispersas no território capixaba. Entre possíveis medidas para reverter esse quadro, estaria a promoção de atividades de intercâmbio entre empresas e profissionais de diferentes setores da economia do Espírito Santo, o que permitiria ampliar a quantidade de profissionais com conhecimento sobre as práticas necessárias para atuar nesse comércio.
