Resumo: The present study aimed to determine the criteria that make a rural road adequate for the transportation of inputs and agricultural production. The research was geographically delimited to the Brazilian municipality of Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. The methodological procedure was the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and as research techniques the field survey and 97 semi structured interviews with form application were used. From the field survey, 20 criteria potentially relevant to the adequacy of a rural road were related, and the results of the survey indicated a set of 7 priority criteria. Agribusiness.El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar los criterios que tornan una carretera rural adecuada para el transporte de insumos y de producción agropecuaria. La investigación se delimitó geográficamente al municipio brasileño de Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. El procedimiento metodológico consistió en la aplicación del Proceso Analítico Jerárquico (AHP) y como técnicas de investigación se utilizaron levantamiento de campo y 97 entrevistas semiestructuradas con la aplicación de un cuestionario. A partir del levantamiento de campo, fueron definidos 20 criterios potencialmente relevantes para la idoneidad de una carretera rural, mientras que los resultados de la encuesta señalaron un conjunto de 7 criterios de prioridad. Este conjunto de prioridades puede ser utilizado como una referencia para la asignación de recursos públicos de forma optimizada y racional por parte de la administración municipal. A pesquisa foi geograficamente delimitada no município brasileiro de Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná. O procedimento metodológico foi a aplicação do método de Processo Analítico Hierárquico (AHP) e como técnicas de pesquisa foram utilizados levantamento de campo e 97 entrevistas semiestruturadas. A partir do levantamento de campo, foram relacionados 20 critérios potencialmente relevantes à adequação de uma estrada rural, sendo que os resultados do survey apontaram um conjunto de 7 critérios prioritários. Este conjunto de prioridades pode servir de referência para a alocação de recursos públicos de maneira otimizada e racional por parte da administração municipal.
