Pace characterization of agricultural modernization of Rio Grande do Sul state municipalities (2010 end 2017)

Resumo: This study aimed to perform a spatial characterization of the agricultural modernization process in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul state, with current data of the agriculture and livestock census of 2017 and 2006. So, to explore the phenomenon of agricultural modernization, we used techniques of multivariate statistics and exploratory analysis of spatial data (AEDE). The results found indicate that there is positive spatial self correlation among the municipalities. Thus, we identified that the municipalities that presented high Index of Agricultural Modernization (IAM), are also surrounded by neighbor municipalities with also elevated index of IAM, located in the middle region of Northwest, Northeast and Middle West of Rio Grande do Sul, evincing an effect of diffusion overflow of agricultural modernization among them. And the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul that presented low values in their IAM, are also surrounded by neighbor municipalities that also presented low levels of their agricultural modernization, suggesting a contagious of the technological deficiency in the agricultural activity. These results reflect the agricultural technological heterogeneities among the municipalities in the state, indicating that the factors of agricultural modernization do not only influence rural development, but regional development. Regional Development.Este estudio tiene como objetivo realizar una caracterización espacial del proceso de modernización agrícola en los municipios del estado de Rio Grande do Sul, con los datos actuales del censo agrícola de 2017 y 2006. Por lo tanto, para analizar este fenómeno de modernización agrícola, se utilizaron técnicas de estadísticas multivariadas y análisis exploratorio de datos espaciales (AEDE). Los resultados encontrados indican que existe una autocorrelación espacial positiva entre los municipios. De esta manera, se identificó que los municipios que presentaron un alto índice de modernización agrícola (IMA) están rodeados de municipios vecinos que también presentaron un alto IMA, ubicado en las mesorregiones del noroeste, noreste y centro oeste do estado, mostrando un efecto “spillover” en la difusión de estas tecnologías entre ellas. Por otro lado, los municipios que presentaron valores bajos en su IMA también están rodeados de municipios vecinos que presentaron niveles bajos del mismo índice, lo que sugiere un contagio de deficiencia tecnológica en la actividad agrícola. Estos resultados reflejan las heterogeneidades tecnológicas agrícolas entre los municipios del estado, lo que indica que los factores de modernización agrícola no solo influyen en el desarrollo rural, sino también en lo desarrollo regional. Desarrollo Regional.Este estudo tem por objetivo realizar uma caracterização espacial do processo da modernização agrícola dos municípios do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, a partir dos dados atuais do Censo Agropecuário de 2017 e o de 2006. Então, para explorar o fenômeno da modernização da agricultura, foram utilizadas técnicas de estatística multivariada e Análise Exploratória de Dados Espaciais (AEDE). Os resultados encontrados indicam que há autocorrelação espacial positiva entre os municípios. Desta forma, identificou-se que os municípios que apresentaram alto Índice de Modernização Agrícola (IMA) estão rodeados por municípios vizinhos que apresentaram também IMA elevado, localizados nas mesorregiões do Noroeste, Nordeste e Centro Ocidental Rio-grandense, evidenciando um efeito de transbordamento na difusão dessas tecnologias entre eles. E os municípios gaúchos que apresentaram baixos valores no seu IMA também estão rodeados por municípios vizinhos que apresentaram baixos níveis desse mesmo índice, sugerindo um contágio da carência tecnológica na atividade agrícola. Esses resultados refletem as heterogeneidades tecnológicas agrícolas entre os municípios gaúchos, indicando que os fatores da modernização agrícola não influenciam apenas no desenvolvimento rural, mas também no desenvolvimento regional.
