Resumo: The article aims to know the potential factors that stimulate the development of short chain food practices. In order to reach this objective, the systematic review method was used, having as an element of analysis the international literature indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science platforms, being selected the documents whose contents are directly related to the theme. In this way, it has been identified that the elements that potentiate the possible development of short food chains are based on topics focused on the producer, consumer, environmental issues and direct sale markets. It is concluded that short food chains as systems for the commercialization of agricultural products seek to bring producers and consumers closer together in the mutual construction of relations of trust, local and spatial development, reducing the lack of information about food purchases, creating stronger social ties within the community and increasing the interaction between the two. Keywords: Producer. Consumer. Proximity. Short food chains.
