Socioeconomic sustainability indicators of rural development in the city of Rolante/RS

Resumo: Meeting the needs and desires of humanity are considered basic objectives of development, in this context sustainable development has the challenge of balancing social, environmental and economic issues. The use of sustainable rural development indicators aims to evaluate a particular system within a conceptual reality and thus allow the quantification of complex phenomena. Under this approach, a study was conducted to analyze the socioeconomic sustainability of rural development in the city of Rolante /RS. For this, a qualitative-descriptive research was carried out, with data originated, basically, from secondary sources, mainly from statistical research based on census data. The results of the study indicate a small increase in the rural population and the aging of this population, although the personnel employed in agricultural production has decreased. With regard to the dimensions of sustainability of rural development, the economic issue presents a positive evolution in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the municipality's agricultural GDP. The social dimension shows an MHDI that places the municipality in the Middle Human Development range, with the rural educational aspect pointing to the need for actions with the purpose of increasing the education level of the municipal rural population. Ruralities.Satisfacer las necesidades y los deseos de la humanidad se consideran objetivos básicos del desarrollo, en este contexto el desarrollo sostenible tiene el desafío de equilibrar los problemas sociales y económicos. El uso de indicadores de desarrollo rural sostenible tiene como objetivo evaluar un sistema dado dentro de una realidad conceptual y, por lo tanto, permitir la cuantificación de fenómenos complejos. Bajo este enfoque, este estudio se realizó con el objetivo de analizar la sostenibilidad socioeconómica del desarrollo rural en el municipio de Rolante / RS. Para esto, se realizó una investigación cualitativa-descriptiva, con datos originados, básicamente, de fuentes secundarias, principalmente de investigaciones estadísticas basadas en datos censales. Los resultados del estudio indican un pequeño aumento en la población rural y el envejecimiento de esta población, aunque el personal empleado en la producción agrícola ha disminuido. Con respecto a las dimensiones de sostenibilidad del desarrollo rural, el tema económico muestra una evolución positiva en el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) total y en el PIB agrícola del municipio. La dimensión social muestra, a través del IDHM, que el municipio se encuentra en el rango de Desarrollo Humano Medio, con el aspecto educativo rural apuntando a la necesidad de acciones con el propósito de aumentar el nivel de educación de la población rural municipal. Ruralidades.Atender às necessidades e aos anseios da humanidade são considerados objetivos básicos do desenvolvimento, nesse contexto o desenvolvimento sustentável tem como desafio equilibrar as questões sociais e econômicas. O uso de indicadores de desenvolvimento rural sustentável tem como intuito avaliar um determinado sistema dentro de uma realidade conceitual e, dessa forma, permitir a quantificação de fenômenos complexos. Sob esse enfoque realizou-se este estudo com o objetivo de analisar a sustentabilidade socioeconômica do desenvolvimento rural do município de Rolante/RS. Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa do tipo qualitativa-descritiva, com dados originados, basicamente, de fontes secundárias, principalmente de pesquisas estatísticas baseadas em dados de recenseamento. Os resultados do estudo indicam pequeno aumento da população rural e o envelhecimento dessa população, embora o pessoal ocupado na produção agropecuária tenha diminuído. No que se refere às dimensões da sustentabilidade do desenvolvimento rural, a questão econômica apresenta evolução positiva no Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) total e do PIB agropecuário do município. A dimensão social evidencia, por meio do IDHM, que o município está na faixa de desenvolvimento humano médio, com o aspecto educacional rural apontando para a necessidade de ações com o propósito de aumentar o grau de instrução da população rural municipal.
