The profile of consumerism research: a bibliometric study of articles from the Scopus database

Resumo: This work aimed to identify certain characteristics of the articles in Scopus' database that contained the word consumerism or consumerism in their title. Using bibliometrics as a statistical and quantitative technique for measuring the production indexes and dispersion of scientific knowledge, the topics of interest, such as title, abstract and body of text, were exported from the database mentioned and processed by the VOSviewer(R) bibliometric analysis software. It is verified, the great value of the subjects treated due to the vast existing literature, and by the significant increase of publications. At the end, suggestions for future studies are disseminated. Keywords: Consumerism. Bibliometry. Financial education.

Financial education.Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo identificar determinadas características de los artículos de la base de datos de Scopus que contenían la palabra consumismo o consumismo en su título. Utilizando la bibliometría como técnica estadística y cuantitativa para medir la producción y dispersión del conocimiento científico, los temas de interés, como título, resumen y cuerpo del texto, fueron exportados de la base de datos mencionada y procesados por el software de análisis bibliométrico VOSviewer (R). Se puede apreciar el gran valor de los temas tratados debido a la vasta literatura existente, y al significativo incremento de publicaciones. Al final, se difunden sugerencias para futuros estudios. Sendo utilizada a bibliometria enquanto técnica estatística e quantitativa de medição dos índices de produção e dispersão do conhecimento científico, os tópicos de interesse, como título, resumo e corpo de texto foram exportados da base de dados mencionada e processados pelo software de análise bibliométrica VOSviewer(R). Verifica-se, o grande valor dos assuntos tratados em virtude da vasta literatura existente, e pelo significativo aumento de publicações. Ao final, são difundidas sugestões para futuros estudos.
