Resumo: The purpose of this paper is to analyze Paraguay's growth patterns using the Shift-Share method. The study area comprises some departments of the Eastern Region of Paraguay. These departments are Alto Paraná, Caaguazú, Central, Itapúa, San Pedro and the capital of the country Asunción. The data were collected together with the General Directorate of Statistics Encuestas y Censo (DGEEC), through the Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH). The number of persons employed by economic sector for the period 2004-2014 was analyzed. Data analysis was performed using the Shitf-share method. The results indicate a dynamism in the secondary and tertiary sector in the Central, Asunción and Alto Paraná departments. The departments of Caaguazú and Itapúa show dynamism to the secondary sector possibly due to the effects of the soy complex. The San Pedro department is predominantly linked to the primary sector. A área de estudo compreende alguns departamentos da Região Oriental do Paraguai. Estes departamentos são Alto Paraná, Caaguazú, Central, Itapúa, San Pedro e a capital do país Asunción. Os dados foram coletados juntamente com a Dirección General de Estadísticas Encuestas y Censo (DGEEC), por meio da Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH). Foram analisados o número de pessoas empregadas por sector econômico para o período 2004-2014. A análise de dados foi realizado por meio do método Shitf-share. Os resultados indicam um dinamismo no setor secundário e terciário nos departamentos de Central, Asunción e Alto Paraná. Os departamentos de Caaguazú e Itapúa apresentam dinamismo no setor secundário possivelmente devido aos efeitos do complexo soja.
