Non-profit organizations: study of project management in the interior of São Paulo state

Resumo: | The objective of this work was to evaluate the project management methodologies used by the Third Sector Organizations. The research was carried out in a city in the interior of the São Paulo State in 25 organizations from different areas of activity. The organizations answered a structured questionnaire, with 90 closed questions, which allowed to identify the aspects contained in the research objectives. The results indicate that voluntary work is predominant in Third Sector Organizations (46% of participating organizations). Research participants have undergraduate degrees (48%) and graduate degrees (24%), and 52% of them organize and carry out their work entirely as projects. 40% of organizations have standardized procedures for managing projects. 68% adopt formal criteria for the selection of projects, and 71% of them monitor the costs of the project during execution. It concludes that the Third Sector Organizations use project management procedures reasonably well, mainly in relation to the management of communication, human resources, deadlines, and costs. Third Sector.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as metodologias de gerenciamento de projetos utilizadas por Organizações do Terceiro Setor. A pesquisa foi realizada em uma cidade do interior do Estado de São Paulo em 25 Organizações do terceiro setor de diferentes áreas de atuação. As organizações responderam a um questionário estruturado, com 90 questões fechadas, que permitiram identificar os aspectos constantes nos objetivos deste trabalho. Os resultados indicam que o trabalho voluntário é predominante nas Organizações do Terceiro Setor (46% das organizações participantes). Os participantes da pesquisa têm curso superior (48%) e pós-graduação (24%), e 52% das organizações organizam e realizam seu trabalho totalmente como projetos. 40% das organizações dispõem de procedimentos padronizados para gerenciar projetos. 68% adotam critérios formais para a seleção dos projetos e em 71% delas existe o acompanhamento dos custos do projeto durante a execução. Conclui-se as Organizações do Terceiro Setor utilizam razoavelmente bem os procedimentos em gerenciamento de projetos, principalmente em relação ao gerenciamento da comunicação, recursos humanos, prazos e custos.
