The cooperativism in the agriculture of Southern Brazil: a brief characterization from the brazilian agricultural census dada 2017

Resumo: This article aims to characterize the development of cooperatives in agriculture in the Southern of Brazil, based on data from the 2006 and 2017 Agricultural Censuses. This paper defines and quantifies agricultural establishments that declared association with cooperatives through the mapping of characteristics of producers and production, socioeconomic characteristics and typologies of family farming. The methodology is based on analysis of secondary data from the 2006 and 2017 IBGE Agricultural Censuses, taken from the SIDRA website, using the variable 'association to the cooperative'. The results reveal a tendency to strengthen cooperativism in agriculture in the Southern of Brazil. It is hoped that these results can be taken as important indicators for deeper analysis of the political, social and economic context in which Brazilian agriculture is inserted and how cooperativism can enhance its development. Los resultados revelan una tendencia hacia el fortalecimiento del cooperativismo en la agricultura en la macrorregión Sur de Brasil. Se espera que estos resultados puedan ser tomados como indicadores importantes para un análisis más profundo del contexto político, social y económico en el que se inserta la agricultura brasileña y cómo el cooperativismo puede potenciar su desarrollo. O trabalho identifica e quantifica os estabelecimentos agropecuários que declararam associação à cooperativa através do mapeamento de características dos produtores e da produção, das características socioeconômicas e das tipologias da agricultura não-familiar e familiar. A metodologia utilizada consistiu na análise de dados dos Censos Agropecuários 2006 e 2017 do IBGE, retirados do website SIDRA a partir da variável ‘associação à cooperativa’. Os resultados revelam uma tendência de fortalecimento do cooperativismo na agricultura da macrorregião Sul do Brasil. Espera-se que esses resultados possam ser tomados como importantes sinalizadores para análises mais profundas do contexto político, social e econômico no qual a agricultura brasileira está inserida e como o cooperativismo pode potencializar o seu desenvolvimento.
