Rural development in Rio Grande do Sul: contributions to the 2006-2017 period analysis

Resumo: The study aimed to analyze the different variables that characterize rural development for the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the years 2006 and 2017. The methodological designs consider the use of multisectoral indicators in order to observe socioeconomic aspects from the analysis of four dimensions: population, structure and economic performance, well-being and equity and environmental. The results indicate that rural development presupposes the improvement of the social and economic aspects of the population residing in this environment. The rural area of Rio Grande do Sul, in the analyzed period, has been showing improvements in the expansion of the infrastructure of the inhabitants, but there was a decrease in the rural population. Despite advances in environmental conservation, there are indications denoting that  the use of pesticides in agricultural production processes may be limiting rural development in aspects such as the well-being and health of the resident population. Resident population.El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar las diferentes variables caracterizadoras del desarrollo rural para el estado de Rio Grande do Sul, en 2006 y 2017. Los diseños metodológicos consideran el uso de indicadores multisectoriales con el objetivo de observar aspectos socioeconómicos a partir del análisis de cuatro dimensiones: población , estructura y desempeño económico, bienestar y equidad y ambiental. Los resultados indican que el desarrollo rural presupone la mejora de los aspectos sociales y económicos de la población residente en este entorno. El área rural de Rio Grande do Sul, en el período analizado, viene mostrando mejoras en la expansión de la infraestructura de los habitantes, pero hubo una caída en la población rural. A pesar de los avances en la conservación ambiental, se debe considerar que el uso de plaguicidas en los procesos productivos agrícolas puede estar limitando el desarrollo rural en aspectos como el bienestar y la salud de la población residente. O estudo tem por objetivo promover uma análise das diferentes variáveis caracterizadoras do desenvolvimento rural para o estado do Rio Grande do Sul, em 2006 e 2017. Os delineamentos metodológicos consideram à utilização de indicadores multissetoriais visando a observação dos aspectos socioeconômicos a partir de análise de quatro dimensões: populacional, estrutura e desempenho econômico, bem-estar e equidade e ambiental. Os resultados indicam que desenvolvimento rural pressupõe a melhoria dos aspectos sociais e econômicos da população residente neste locus. O meio rural gaúcho, no período analisado, vem apresentando melhorias na ampliação da infraestrutura dos residentes, porém verificou-se queda da população rural. Apesar dos avanços na conservação do meio ambiente constatou-se indícios de que o uso de agrotóxicos nos processos produtivos agrícolas pode estar limitando o desenvolvimento rural em aspectos como o bem-estar e a saúde da população residente.  Palavras-chave: Desenvolvimento rural.
