An analysis of the relational space of homicides in the Northern Region of Brazil

This article aimed to project the relational space of homicides in the Northern region of Brazil. Multiple Correspondence Analysis, a statistical technique that reveal hidden patterns and relationships between variables, was employed. Results and discussions were structured along two axes. The first axis, social vulnerability, drug trafficking, and homicide, is subdivided into right and left sides. The second axis, the complex relationship between socioeconomic factors and violence, is subdivided into upper and lower sides. The research highlights that crime is a complex issue. The connections between social inequality, vulnerability, and violence are evident. The results indicate the urgency of public policies that not only improve security but also promote social equality as an effective means of reducing homicidal violence in the Northern region of Brazil.
