Resumo: ABSTRACT: The debate about the territory was resumed with the great importance that it really deserves and is characterized as a study objective of Geography. For geographical science the territory theme has been highlighted not for its meaning, but for its relevance with the means of coexistence for human beings, besides being relevant to the identification of the territories of the different communities. Territory is not only linked to political power, it is also linked to symbolic power of appropriation. Prostitution is a social act of the excluded minority before society, without opportunity. The transvestites at dusk are seen in the streets of downtown Teresina for another night of work, and it's easy to spot the spaces they built over the years. What is the importance and the real reasons that led these professionals to choose these territories? KEYWORDS: Territory, Prostitution, Transvestites.

Para a ciência geográfica o tema território vem se destacando não pelo seu significado, mas pela sua relevância com o meio de convivência para os seres humanos, além de ser relevante à identificação dos territórios das diferentes comunidades. O território não está ligado somente ao poder politico, está ligado também a poder simbólico de apropriação. A prostituição é um ato social da minoria excluída perante a sociedade, sem oportunidade. As travestis ao entardecer são vistas nas ruas do centro de Teresina para mais uma noite de trabalho, e é fácil identificar os espaços construídos pelas mesmas ao longo dos anos. Qual a importância e quais os reais motivos levaram essas profissionais a escolherem esses territórios?
