Resumo: ABSTRACT: Kale, Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala, Brassicaceae stands out for being susceptible to several pest insects, among them the 'whitefly', Bemisia tabaci Genn. (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). The Coccinellidae family houses insects with a predatory habit, contributing to the biological control of several pests, which allows the optimization of methods that are sustainable to the environment. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the predation of the larvae of ladybug Delphastus davidsoni Gordon (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) on nymphs of B. tabaci. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse and in the laboratory of the State University of Alagoas - UNEAL, Campus I, in Arapiraca- AL, during the months of October to November / 2017. For the implementation of the experiment in the laboratory, filter paper, moistened cotton and a quadrant of 3 cm2 kale leaf were used. The population of B. tabaci nymphs were reduced by 82% by D. davidsoni larvae. The action of coccinellids also allowed a decline in the adult population in 38% of the prey. Thus, the larvae of ladybugs showed significant high potential for the control of nymphs of the hemiptero-pest., Subsequently reducing the number of adult insects. The species D. davidsoni is a promising insect predator of B. tabaci and can be indicated for biological control in cabbage culture. KEYWORDS: biological control. Horticulture. Monitoring.

Monitoring.RESUMO: A couve-manteiga, Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala, Brassicaceae destaca-se por ser susceptível a diversos insetos-praga, dentre esses a ‘mosca-branca’, Bemisia tabaci Genn. (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). Horticultura.
